Introduction

The 2nd Homa Bay International Investment Conference was a resounding success, showcasing the county's potential and attracting significant investment opportunities. This event, the first of its kind for the third phase of county governments, put Homa Bay on the global map, garnering the support of esteemed dignitaries, including His Excellency the President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, CGH, and the Rt. Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga.

Following this successful expo, we have prioritized our bankable value chains and investment opportunities resulting in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) estimated at KES. 17.3 Billion. When these partnerships are realized, we will improve the livelihoods of our people and elevate us to a producer-county status.

The MoUs signed include:

a) Oil Palm Production with Afropal Limited;

b) Solid Waste Management with Australian based Arch Ento Tech;

c) The construction of a 50-bed capacity Mother and Child

Hospital with Yazmark International;

d) The Cotton value chain project with Rift Valley Products Limited which will see us develop a cotton ginnery;

e) The Manda University project that will see the County become a center of training in health and physical sciences;

f) The Housing Sector improvement project with Fairdeal Real Estate;

g) The Renewable Energy project with Reddington;

h) The Sweet Potato Pellets project with the Trans Sahara Investment;

i) The Livestock Value Addition Project with Tunasco.

Economic Benefit

The conference's success has paved the way for the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) estimated at Kshs. 17.3 Billion, encompassing a wide range of sectors, including oil palm production, solid waste management, healthcare, cotton value chain, education, housing, renewable energy, and livestock value addition. These partnerships will not only improve the livelihoods of the people but also elevate Homa Bay to a producer county status, fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities.

Citizen Benefit

The investment opportunities secured through the conference will have far-reaching positive impacts on the lives of Homa Bay residents. Projects such as the construction of a 50-bed capacity Mother and Child Hospital, the establishment of Manda University as a center for training in health and physical sciences, and the improvement of the housing sector will enhance access to quality healthcare, education, and housing, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the people of Homa Bay
