
Blue Economy, Fisheries, Mining and Digital Economy
The department is responsible for the development and implementation of policies related to the blue economy and fisheries, including provision of extension services, enforcement of regulations and standards, development of infrastructure, and training programs. They also promote sustainable use of freshwater and wetland resources and resolve transboundary challenges. In the digital economy sector, the department oversees e-government and ICT, e-commerce, and connecting the youth to digital opportunities. They also support circular economy and innovation through i-hubs. In the mining sector, the department is responsible for licensing, inspection, and safety policies related to prospecting, quarrying, and artisan mining.
