Introduction
After over 10 years of water scarcity, residents of Makongeni, Got Rabuor, Kapita and Rang'wena in Homa Bay town finally have relief. The County Government of Homa Bay re-established water access to these communities, providing a vital resource that had long been lacking. This initiative aligns with the county's commitment to ensure 100% connectivity of water supply to all urban households under its jurisdiction.
Economic Benefit
Restoring water access confers multiple economic benefits for Homa Bay town. With a reliable water source, these communities are now better positioned to support urban economic activities, from small businesses to housing development. Access to clean water also helps reduce healthcare costs that arise from waterborne diseases, allowing residents to be healthier and more productive.
Citizen Benefit
Citizens in these areas now enjoy greatly improved quality of life from having tap water available near their homes again. Women and children especially save considerable time previously spent traveling long distances to fetch water. The county government's policy has brought dignity and convenience by making water readily accessible for drinking, cooking, washing, and other domestic needs, even as they embark on delivering the last-mile connectivity to connect more homes with piped water. This basic service delivers health, economic and social advantages to these citizens.
