Introduction

The Raila Odinga Stadium, Homa Bay is a 20,000 seater capacity project that commenced back in 2014. The now complete phase one includes; a standard natural turf, a well-defined track, and three impressive floodlight masts. The stadium is fully equipped to host various local and international sporting events. Additionally, its spacious dais covered by a striking roofed canopy makes it a versatile venue for social gatherings. The National Government will partner with Homa Bay County to ensure the completion of the Sh369 million project.

Economic Benefit

With the completion of the first phase, which includes essential infrastructure such as the natural turf, track and floodlight masts, the stadium is now fully prepared to attract local and international sporting events. Hosting such events brings economic opportunities to the area, including increased tourism, job creation, and revenue generation.

Citizen Benefit

With a seating capacity of 20,000, the stadium offers a modern and well-equipped venue for various local and international sporting events. This means that the local community can now enjoy exciting sports competitions right in their own region, fostering a sense of pride and unity. The presence of top-level athletic competitions also inspires aspiring athletes and provides them with opportunities to witness and learn from professional athletes, encouraging talent development at the grassroots level.
