H.E Gladys Wanga chaired the 35th Homa Bay County Own Source Revenue Roundtable at the County Headquarters, reaffirming the County Government’s commitment to strengthening financial sustainability and enhancing service delivery through improved local revenue collection.

Over the last three years, Homa Bay County has made remarkable progress in expanding its own source revenue base, positioning itself among the most competitive counties in Kenya, including traditionally urban revenue-performing counties. Through strategic reforms, digitization of revenue systems, improved compliance mechanisms, and strengthened accountability structures, the county has continued to register steady growth in locally generated revenue.

During the roundtable meeting, a review of the county’s revenue performance for February and March indicated encouraging results, with Homa Bay County having already achieved 62 percent of its 2025/2026 fiscal year revenue target. The Governor noted that the achievement reflects the effectiveness of ongoing reforms and the dedication of county staff, partners, and stakeholders working collaboratively to improve revenue performance.

The governor emphasized that increased own-source revenue is critical in supporting the county’s development agenda, including investments in healthcare, roads, water, markets, education infrastructure, and youth empowerment programs. She called for sustained innovation, transparency, and efficiency to ensure the county fully realizes its revenue potential while maintaining a citizen-centered approach to service delivery.
