This department develops and improves transport infrastructure, increasing road network accessibility and quality. It opens new roads, maintains county roads, and conducts technical surveys. Mandates include construction, upgrading infrastructure, building jetties, promoting water transport, and regulating road safety. The Public Works Directorate streamlines design and standards control.

To Provide Efficient, Safe Affordable And Reliable Infrastructure For Sustainable Economic Growth And Development Through Design, Documentation, Construction, Modernization, Rehabilitation And Effective Maintenance Of All Infrastructure Facilities.

1 To expand the road network by opening new roads for improved accessibility to resources and services.
2 To attain sustainable provision, management and development of well-regulated built environment.
3 To develop and administer policies, standards and guidelines towards safe and cost effective public and sustainable built infrastructure and other public works.
