In a stunning display of skill and dominance, Homa Bay
County football team defeated Embu County 6-0 at the Jomo Kenyatta
International Stadium. The match was largely one-sided, with Homabay
dominating from start to finish.

Boaz
Odhiambo was the man-of-the-match, scoring a hat-trick and playing a
key role in several others. The first goal came when he latched onto a
through pass and expertly steered the ball past Embu's Dennis Macharia.
The second goal was scored by Lameck Odoyo, who headed the ball in from
point-blank range.
Embu
tried to mount a comeback, but found Bonface Diero and Emmanuel Ogogo
impenetrable in defense and midfield, respectively. Boaz scored his
second goal just before the end of the first half, capitalizing on poor
defending by team Embu.
Homa
Bay continued to dominate in the second half, with Boaz completing his
hat-trick and Maurice Odera scoring a tap-in after a pass from Boaz.
Embu did have an opportunity to score a consolation goal when they were
awarded a penalty, but Charles Muindia hit the post and then missed the
rebound. Hezron Oyugi then added a sixth goal for Homa Bay from a pass
by Joshua Orwa.
The
results mean that Homabay only needs to avoid defeat against Laikipia to
advance. It was a dominant performance by Homabay, and they will be
looking to carry this momentum into their next match.
In
the Netball games, Homa Bay County fell to Nairobi 19-26 in a closely
contested match. The defending champions, Nairobi, took an early lead
with a
score of 6-15 in the first half.
However, Homa Bay almost staged a
comeback when they reduced the deficit to only two points. Despite the
efforts of Homa Bay's Benter Akoko and Mary Akinyi, who applied pressure
on Nairobi's defenders, they were
unable to secure the win. Homa Bay will now face Siaya in their next
match.
