The county’s department of agriculture and livestock launched a week-long training program for SACCO officials, focusing on developing proposals for the inclusion grant.

The training that took place at Miyare Agricultural Training Center was organized in partnership with the county’s department of cooperatives,  supported by the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP).

The Inclusion Grant aims to support SACCOs' initial startup needs, including office expenses, staff salaries, equipment, and member recruitment.

Madam Skeeter Otieno, the project's Community Institutions Development Officer, outlined the grant's objectives and potential impacts.

The County Chief Officer for Agriculture and Livestock, Ms. Judith Ombok emphasized SACCOs' role in financial inclusion, stating that loans would help members access financial services and address challenges in their ventures. She urged officials to encourage member savings.

The training covered eligibility criteria, implementation procedures, and the integration of modern technology. It also focused on financial management, procurement processes, and proposal development.

County Project Coordinator, Mr. Henry Nzinga stressed the importance of meeting eligibility requirements and submitting necessary documents promptly. He advised SACCOs facing difficulties to learn from successful counterparts.

Mr. Julius Munde, the County Agribusiness Development Officer, expressed confidence that the training would enhance SACCOs' capabilities in managing and deploying the grant, leading to community growth and improved livelihoods.

County Director of Agriculture, Mr. Eric Adel cautioned against leadership conflicts and advised collaboration with Community Driven Development Committees for successful project implementation.
