On the 24th International Youth Day, Homa Bay County commemorated the event at the Raila Odinga Stadium. The theme, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," aimed to raise awareness about using the digital space for socioeconomic development and addressing social issues like gender-based violence, teenage pregnancies, and drug abuse. The event was organized by the County Government of Homa Bay, in partnership with state departments of Youth Affairs, Interior, National Coordination, and various development partners in the youth and social protection sectors.

The global celebration is dedicated to young people's contribution aspirations and potential worldwide. It's also an opportunity to raise awareness about the youths' challenges and come up with a solution. Also highlights their innovative ideas and positive impact on society and also promotes the importance of empowering young individuals to take active roles in their communities, encouraging them to voice their opinions during decision-making and participate in shaping a better future.

"The youths should be part of the chief's barazas, public participation. Through this, we will be able to know what really the youths need to be done. And also youths should be able to grab any job advertisement that is out no matter the kind of job it is. " Said Ms Sarah Malit, the CECM Sports, Gender and Youth.

She continued by encouraging the youths to make good use of the mobile phones to earn a living. Since through the mobile phone, more opportunities are available.
