Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities;
·
The chief policy advisor on issues relating
to justice, legal and constitutional affairs, law reform, governance, rule of
law, and human rights.
·
Initiate county and legal sectoral policy
reform.
·
Coordinate the development and implementation
of county policies and laws.
·
Coordinate stakeholder consultations and
engagement on matters of policy and legislation.
·
Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising
on legal documents agreements, contracts, and MoUs for and on behalf of the
county government and its agencies.
·
Ensuring timely contract completion.
·
Must be well vast in the drafting of legal
documents including legislation, policy, and litigation.
·
Preparing periodic reports on the execution
of contracts, agreements, and MoUs.
·
Researching legal issues and compiling
reports, preparing opinions and briefs.
·
Ensuring compliance with principles and
values of good governance, human rights, transparency, accountability, ethics,
and integrity.
·
Undertaking research on assigned legal issues
and analyzing research data and compiling reports.
·
preparing preliminary legal
documents/instruments and preparing legal opinions.
·
Undertaking law review and ensuring
compliance with county, national, regional, and international instruments.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate
must have: -
- Be A Kenyan Citizen.
- Bachelor of Law (LL. B) degree from a recognized university.
- Have been admitted as an advocate for the High Court of Kenya.
- Be in possession of a current practicing license.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal
Education.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
