A delegation from Sweden are in Homa Bay County for five days in a twining program funded by International Center for Local Democracy from Sweden.

Homa Bay County through the Department of Water, Sanitation, Irrigation, Environment, Energy, Forestry and Climate Change has partnered with Lycksele Municipality in the region of Vasterbotten, Sweden on a solid and waste management program.

A delegation from Lycksele Municipality in Sweden are in Homa Bay for a 5-day visit of the county. Homa Bay is keen to partner with Lycksele in liquid and solid-waste management.

The partnership program has invested in training of technical staff on governance and technical capacity on solid and liquid management

The delegation led by Ingrar Ronnback, Advisor of the project will be in the County for five days

Professor Donald Ogweno, Chief Officer Energy disclosed that the partnership will build resource mobilization structure for sustainability.

Ms. Stacey Atieno, Director Environment and Forestry stated that the partnership has created a great opportunity for the County.

 "This partnership has presented our County with great opportunity to upscale and improve services in the sector of water and environment that has seen improved waste management services and improved access to clean and safe water" she said. 

The delegation will visit waste management sites within the county with an aim of identifying the possible gaps and the impacts it has created before disseminating results on Monday.
